Hi everyone 👋

I’m Eilis, a postgraduate psychology student from Ireland and a fellow MSer. I’m currently running a study exploring how coaching might support people with MS at work — especially in areas like resilience, confidence, and navigating disclosure.

If you’re 18+, living with MS, and currently working (or have worked in the past 12 months), I’d be so grateful if you could take part in my short, anonymous online survey.

 It takes 20-25 minutes

🔒 It’s fully anonymous and ethically approved by my university

💬 Your input could help shape future workplace support programs for our community

I am writing to ask for your support in recruiting for an upcoming survey study entitled INSPIRE-Flare: Investigating flare triggers, preventers and prodromes in autoimmune disease patients. This study aims to improve understanding of triggers, preventers and the progression of symptoms in autoimmune disease flares in order to improve recognition and treatment.

Participants must be aged 18 or over and be diagnosed with at least one autoimmune disease. The survey can be completed online via Qualtrics using this link https://bit.ly/4kOQeyg. Participants who cannot access the internet can also arrange to complete the survey via telephone with a member of our study team. Participants will be given the opportunity to win one of four £50 Amazon vouchers. More information about the survey, data storage and ethical approvals can be found in the Participant Information Sheet attached.

If you would…

Loved the newsletter about travel tips - makes me want to go travel more!! Just a little nerve racking sometimes.... but building up my confidence and will probably start with local trips for ease of mind in case I need something back at home.

Family not understanding

My family is the type that will flat out call you lazy or no good because you only have burst of energy and are forced to conserve for it to last. In my case the more physical stuff I do the shaker I get and my brain starts losing focus. The question is how to deal with people saying this when there is nothing you can do to stop it

It’s tough when you’ve already explained and things haven’t changed. If you’ve had that conversation and they still don’t get it, it might help to set clearer boundaries with them. You can gently let them know that while you understand their perspective, you need their support, not criticism. If the comments continue, it’s okay to distance yourself from those situations or even take a break from certain people for your own mental and emotional well-being. Sometimes, prioritizing your peace is the most important thing.
