Bike to the Bay

The NW Ohio MS Society chapter has sponsored Bike to the Bay for over 30 years, and I rode with them for 16 of those rides in the span of 18 years. ( Missed a couple due to MS problems). In the early 2000s, or late 1990s I began taking part in the ride not so much because of MS but because it is was a nice ride through farm country and near the lake plus being very well supported. Good SAG and service volunteers along route. I only had ever been acquainted with a couple of people who lived with MS. But thought good cause I could support. So rode right years in a row got to know organizers, and volunteers and really enjoyed participating and even got good at fundraising

2008 eight going to be my ninth year and signed up early for the ride and had been in regular contact with Roberta and other organizers for the ride many times. May comes around and really ramping up fundraising and training as ride is in June. On the day after Memorial Day, Roberta sent an email that said " Robert do you realize how many people have been diagnosed with MS just since you signed up for the ride this year?" To which I responded " no I have no idea but I do know that I am one of them" I had just gotten home from hospital after final diagnosis and initial treatment for RRMS. I continued to ride with Bike to the Bay eight more times. Till vertigo made it not a good fit for me anymore.
