Undiagnosed MS newbie

Hi all, I am a 60 y/o type 2 diabetic and for the last two years have suffered from progressively severe peripheral neuropathy. I have not really even started on the track towards a possible MS diagnosis other than mentioning it to my PCP and getting a referral to a neurologist (appt has not happened yet). But I do suspect that I may have MS and if not, some other debilitating autoimmune disorder. My older brother was diagnosed with MS around 14 years ago. I check off most of the early signs / symptoms. I read somewhere that the actress Terri Garr probably had the disorder for 15 years or more before she was officially diagnosed. I want to ask for an MRI and hope that will give some answers. My symptoms include fatigue, walking difficulties (balance and depth perception), numbness / tingling, tremors and occasional spasms, decreased strength, weakness in arms and legs, vertigo / dizzyness, bowel problems, pain and severe recurrent / chronic itching with accompanying frequent skin rash, possible cognitive issues, emotional changes (irritability), and depression (I fight it but when you feel this bad physically it seems inevitable). Any thoughts or advice would be welcome and thanks in advance.
