1. General MS Discussion

Diagnosed 1.5 yrs ago

I was diagnosed with MS 1.5 yrs ago and find it hard to navigate my new world. I hate that my patience is sorely lacking, and I often lose my temper with my husband even though he's the most caring supportive man in the world. It's heartbreaking that I can't seem to control my emotions and can no longer live an active lifestyle. I used to work out every other day and now...I'm lucky if I can walk with my husband later in the evening with our 2 large fur babies for their daily exercise. Walking has now become a challenge for me due to pain that feel in most of my joints, so I'm having to use a cane now.

Has anyone experienced these challenges? Any suggestions?

I'm getting close to my 2nd year 1 cycle of treatment again in 2 months and dread the fear of infection due to cold flu season fast approaching.

Thank you for listening. 🙂

Dear gloso337, I have been living with MS for18 years, and have lost the ability to do many of things I love, riding a bicycle, playing guitar, etc. and believe ne there were many times of great frustration and even foul language. but over all these years the one thing that has really helped me is to refocus my energy onthe parts of those activities i can still do.in term of cycling PI/ bought a tadpole trike so I can ride a bit without balancing, and interms of guitar rather than trying to play much I have been building them. admitily very slowly( years) into each project, with the loss of dexterity vision accuity and sensation but with good glasses magnifying lights an lots of time it is possible. hope I don't come off too goody two shoes but this approach has certainly been more helpful than the fuming and cursing of early days. robert
