I was a letter carrier for thirteen years, and developed foot drop in my right foot soon after diagnosis, at first tried to tough it out, actually scraping the skin off the top of right toes after wearing through shoe toe box. Had no idea that AFO s existed till a physical therapist asked if I had tried one. She had a few old models around and tried several, all of which helped, but the carbon fiber brace made it possible for me to walk almost " normally" again. Never would have dreamed of such a thing. But later made my own modification on the concept to make bicycle riding on my favorite recumbent bike crafted a brace which cupped my calf and foot and clipped into pedals. Worked for years until vertigo got so bad I couldn't ride two wheeler anymore. Then bought a tadpole type trike so I can still ride a bit. So yes lots of assistive devices, oh that doesn't even include the cooling vest necessary in temp over 70 due to heat intolerance . So check out what is available for your particular needs
